Toni's soon-to-be-held Book Launch is to be hosted by the CBCA Northern Sydney Sub-branch – CBCA NS S/b conduct a Members' Talk at many of their meetings. Wendy Fitzgerald, President CBCA Northern Sydney Sub-branch and her team, have been kind enough to ask Toni to be the first member speaker in 2014 on Wednesday 26 February at The Children's Bookshop Beecroft at 6pm.
Two books are to be launched: a junior novel and the second book in the DemiChat series, DemiChat and the Lost Mummy, with colour digital illustrations by USA Digital Artist Cheryl Cruz (see Blog February 2013) and PB What Now Baby Bears? Susanne Gervay (OAM) will be launching the books on her return from Las Vagas where a play based on her book I Am Jack is being performed by Monkey Baa Theatre. Susanne will be chatting generally about books and authors and will be available for questions.
Susanne is an Australian children’s author and ambassador of children’s literature of considerable standing. She is one of the patrons for Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People; Role Model Ambassador and on the book selection committee for Books in Homes – books for indigenous and disadvantaged children; Author Ambassador for Room to Read – educating children in developing countries; Head of the Australian Eastern Region Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators; an Advocate for the Cancer Council (and a cancer survivor); and an Australia Day Ambassador and civil rights advocate.
